ACTIVATE 2019: 5 Reasons You’ll Want to Attend

Search and AI are two of the stalwart technologies in digital transformation. They also happen to be very different technologies that draw different spheres of very smart people. ACTIVATE 2019 brings those two spheres together, as hundreds of data scientists and search architects convene to share how those two worlds intersect -- and what it means to their organizations.

With seven weeks to go until ACTIVATE 2019, we are thrilled with the line-up of folks coming to show their unique knowledge. If you haven’t already, check out the full ACTIVATE agenda where you’ll find dozens of technical talks, case studies, and panels for technology and business leaders sharing best practice on how to leverage AI-powered search.

Join the Solr Community

ACTIVATE  is where the Solr open source search community convenes each year to share learnings and drive innovation. This year’s Solr developer track includes talks from Solr committers and developers on search relevance, scaling search, and the cloud. Speakers from Bloomberg, Home Depot, letgo, LexisNexis, Priceline, Salesforce, Target, Wayfair, and more will be presenting case studies and leading trainings.

Attend Technical Training on Solr or Fusion

The week starts off with two days of hands-on, in-depth training with two courses for Solr developers and five courses for Fusion users including a few tailored to data scientists, front end developers, and administrators. Check out the Fusion and Solr training courses for more information on what to expect.

Hear Digital Transformation Case Studies

We’ve extended the ACTIVATE program to address the community of search and AI professionals who are not developers. Specifically, we’re focusing on transformation in commerce and the workplace with insight from top analysts, Fusion case studies from ExxonMobil, Foot Locker, lululemon athletica, Nordstrom Rack | Hautelook, PwC, Veritas, and Uber, and talks that help organizations embrace change.

Explore AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science

We’re also taking a deep dive into AI, machine learning, and data science this year, and are excited about talks from data scientists and engineers on personalization at Airbnb, Hautelook, and Target. Talks will cover user interfaces like visual search, chatbots, and question answering. We’ll also explore AI’s impact on government, banking, and e-commerce, with industry-specific panels and roundtables.

Learn Practical AI Applications

One of the most popular sessions from last year’s ACTIVATE, AI in Practice: Separating Fact from Fiction, is being reprised. Search guru and Lucidworks Founder Grant Ingersoll will be joined on the main stage with featured speakers from Looker, Overstock.com, Cloudera and NativeX. Stay tuned for main stage keynote announcements.

All these very smart people are waiting for you to join them at the iconic Washington Hilton (home of the annual White House Correspondents dinner) from September 9-12, 2019.  Register here before the July 26 early registration deadline to save $400 on your pass.
