Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

At Lucidworks, we assume that most people have good intentions. However, as part of our commitment to providing a welcoming and harassment-free experience for all participants of the ACTIVATE conference, we find it important to adopt the below Code of Conduct that is reflective of the anti-harassment policy published by the Apache Software Foundation.

Code of Conduct

ACTIVATE is an event intended for professional networking and collaboration in the Lucene/Solr and AI communities. All conference participants (attendees, staff, sponsors, volunteers, and speakers alike) are expected to behave according to professional standards and in accordance with their employers’ policies on appropriate workplace behavior.

We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or asked to leave the conference without a refund, at the discretion of the event organizers.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event without a refund. We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and related social events.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the event team immediately. The team can be identified by a “Staff’ t-shirt they will be wearing throughout the event. You can contact the event team via email at [email protected].

The event team will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security (as available) or local law enforcement, provide escorts to walk you to/from your room/car/taxi/etc, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
