Stop Bashing Breach Victims: Backward Incompatible Changes to Security in Apache Solr

Wednesday | 2:20PM - 3:00PM | Lincoln East

Marcus Eagan will explain a backward incompatible change he made to Solr that will make setting up basic authentication security more intuitive and safer for Solr users. Previously, enabling the authentication plugin in Solr did not actually restrict access to unauthenticated users. Despite the recommendations from almost all of the documentation out there, some users still do not know to make this change. To wrap up his talk, Marcus will emphasize the importance of looking for areas to improve security in open source and making security more intuitive for all users.
