Michelle graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a B.S. in Information and Computer Science. She has been at The Aerospace Corporation for 18 years and counting. She has worked on several knowledge management efforts for the corporation, and has been involved with integrating these knowledge applications in the enterprise. She is the current technical lead for the enterprise search service, powered by Lucidworks Fusion.

Normalizing Author Names
Filtering results based on document metadata is a key feature of any search service. The Author field is one of the most used filters in our corpus, but our repositories don’t have a standard format for storing this information. We developed a solution that sets the Author field to the determined official name at index time so that the filters follow a standard format to make searching easier for users.
